These pictures from breakfast are just for us to remember the nice stay at the Bed and Breakfast in Pitlochry. Smoked haddock and smoked salmon with eggs (for Tommy and I) along with a full Scottish breakfast for the boys.
A good way to start out our day of hiking.
When talking over breakfast about our plan for the day, I did let Tommy know that we might not need to attempt another 11+ mile day. He agreed...we only walked 10 miles on this day!
This was our hiking goal for the day - climb to the top of Craigower Crag.
Another right-of-way, this time across a golf course.
In the process of crossing the golf course, we came across a number of these pheasants.
We have seen these on several of our train trips in Scotland.
And, of course, there are sheep...always sheep.
This picture was well into our hike. It is where the trail starts almost straight up!
They are still smiling!

Coming down, we took the longer way - the logging trail.
The boys and I got distracted looking at rocks on the ground.
That is Tommy far ahead of us.
What an amazingly beautiful day - no hail today!
As we walked along this road, Tommy and I commented how dark the inside of the forest is just within a few feet of its edge. These were the settings of many of the original fairy tales and we could easily picture in our minds how this would be perfect for such stories.
They were as interested in us as we were with them.
The next stop was Dunkeld.
This area with its magnificent forested hills were the inspiration for Beatrix Potter.
This really is one of the most beautiful settings. The cathedral is perched on the bank of the River Tay.
Half of the cathedral is still used as an active church, while the other half is in ruins.
When we were there, it was blocked off with signs sighting recent large rock falls from inside the cathedral. It dates from the 14th century.
The field behind the cathedral was once a battlefield.
