Before we arrived in St Andrews, we had been told that Jannettas Gelateria of St Andrew has "the best ice cream in the world." We were willing to take on the challenge to see if we agreed with this assessment. Unfortunately, when we tracked down the location on our second day in Scotland, Jannettas was gutted and undergoing a complete remodel. From the looks of things, we were doubtful that it would open while we were going to be in town. Well, we were happy to start hearing word of it's reopening. It opened over the weekend, so we decided to check out their lunch options on Tuesday. We enjoyed everything we ordered - they seem to specialize in these open face sandwiches with the kids' sandwiches coming as a more "standard" sandwich. We didn't get to sample the ice cream on Tuesday, but we will be back. Our assessment of the ice cream must be part of our files!
It is going to have to take second place to Blue Bell...no matter what!
