Prague - Part 1

     We arrived in Pràgue late Friday afternoon, taking the train from Vienna.  We stayed at Miss Sophie's Prague, which is a hostel and apartment combination.  After getting checked in, we walked to the Old Town Center which is the home of their huge statue of Jan Huss.  We decided to partake of the street vendor option and had sausage sandwiches for dinner.  This is not always a safe option in such places, but it seemed like the thing to do at the time and the boys sure did enjoy them!

     On Saturday morning, we met up with Terry Chumbley for breakfast.  Tommy participated in his men's Bible study while Ruby and the boys reviewed some history of Vienna and Prague.  Being in both cities so close together was a neat way to see how their history is linked together, especially since both were capitals of The Holy Roman Empire.

The city's Powder Gates are amazing to see during the day, but beautiful at night.
 

 

The Astronomical Clock

 

     After this we went with Terry to his and Robin's house and the boys had a great opportunity to pick up where they left off with the Chumbley kids.  Their family moved to Prague for Terry to work at The Christian International School of Prague.  We knew them through our church, Highland Baptist in Waco, so it is a real treat to visit them.  We also visited the Easter Market in the Old Town Square, which was quite a spectacle.  Tommy and I joke that, after this trip, no one can say that our boys are sheltered.  They have witnessed just about every sort of ridiculous behavior that one might expect to see in these settings.

Traveling companions and best buddies.  Love them and love that they love each other!

    We finished up our day with more playtime for the kids at the Chumbley's house.  We are very thankful for the generosity of Terry and Robin for hosting our family each day we were visiting Prague.  J & J had such a wonderful time with playing toilet tag, Lego competitions and super hero games.
