London: Day 3 - British Museum and Prague

     Our final morning in London was just the four us.  The boys asked if we could spend this time revisiting The British Museum.  Who could say "no" to that?!  We started by visiting their special exhibit on mummies.  They had eight different mummies, each with a unique story that they knew quite a bit about.  We all learned a great deal from the 3D scanning equipment that they used instead of disturbing the remains of the mummies.  See here for more info. about the museum's exhibits:  http://www.britishmuseum.org/explore.aspx

  The British Museum is not the kind of place that you go through quickly.  It is an amazing collection of this empires many treasures, and some countries claim that it also contains their national treasures that the British claimed as their own, such as an incredible collection from Ancient Greece.

     We decided to hit some of the highlights from early civilizations, some of the treasures discovered in Britain and some of the " must see" items such as the Rosetta Stone, Sutton Hoo http://www.britishmuseum.org/explore.aspx and the Lewis chessmen http://www.britishmuseum.org/explore.aspx

     Because of current events, we felt it important to walk through the display of artifacts of Nimrud.  Many of the items that remain there have been bulldozed and destroyed in the last few weeks, so, ironically, by the British Museum having these in their collection, they have rescued them.

     When we had completed our tour of some of the highlights, we headed out to the train station which took us to Gatwick airport.  The flight to Pragure was only 1 1/2 hours, which felt really strange!  Easy Jet proved to be a reliable option for such a short flight.
