On Saturday, we decided to do a smaller outing and travel by bus to Dundee, about 30 minutes north of St Andrews, across The River Tay.
These are statues of common Scottish cartoon characters, the biggest one is Desperate Dan.
The McManus Museum of Art had an exhibit from London's British Museum about the Roman Empire and thei influence on Scotland. We had a great time and were able to use our "history and timeline pegs" to hang this information. The boys and I found ourselves singing parts of the timeline song during portions of the exhibit.

The building opened in 1869 and recounts the city's history from earliest times.
The Discovery was a ship built by Dundee whalers in 1900 with plans to be the first to reach Antarctica. The actual ship sits at the dock as part of the tour.
The ship.was built with a wooden hull at least I meter thick so that it could weather the Antarctic storms. It spent two winters trapped in the ice, but is back where it started.
Somehow Josh ended up as part of their expedition...

Valentine's dinner with the family: meat pies, British M&Ms (which the boys say are better than American ones) and a little sparking grape juice. So sweet!
